Surgeon reveals his functional and creative setup, integrating Octatrack for sampling oscillators, Leploop and Fader Fox controller for filtering and balancing sounds. It's a very relaxed tutorial with some experimental moments.

Surgeon is the pseudonym of Anthony Child, a versatile English electronic musician and DJ. Child releases music on his own labels Counterbalance and Dynamic Tension. Established imprints, such as Tresor, Soma, and Harthouse have also released Surgeon's original material and remixes. He has also been recognized as one of the first wave of DJs to use Ableton Live and Final Scratch to supplement his DJ sets. Working with the biggest names in techno (Dave Clarke, Luke Slater/PAS, Green Velvet, Hardfloor, the Black Dog etc), as well as Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Glasgow post-rock outfit Mogwai, old masters Faust and Coil, and most recently, artists such Moderat, Shed, Traversable Wormhole and Scuba, he has amassed accolades from Resident Advisor (Top DJ in 2014), FACT Mag and many in the Berlin Techno scene. He’s currently performing improvised live sets with Lady Starlight, also featured in this educational series (see 216 for her live set BTS).
